If runners were feeling low in energy after topping Haeckel Hill, Aid station 2 would certainly fix that! Great tunes, sunscreen AND bugspray application, a veritable smorgasbord
(bacon to stay or go!), spray bottle spritzing and bags of ice (is this a spa?), it was a small wonder that runners decided to leave. :-)

Sometime in the previous hours a forest fire had broken out north of town in the Ibex valley near the Takhini River Bridge, coating the nearby mountains in smoke.
